AFL Sydney Women’s Round Five Rising Star nominee

Name:  Rebecca Miller

Nickname:  Becky with the good legs

AFL Sydney Club:   Western Wolves

Position:  Ruck

Junior Club:   N/A

Favourite activity to do outside of football:  A drink and chicken schnitzel at the pub before going to a sporting event.

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?   Becky hasn’t played a lot of footy. She has played a handful of games at school gala days and school comps and only 1 season of U12’s.

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field?  Becky is a new kid on the wolf-pack block this year. But she has jumped right in and is playing an important roll in helping the mid field run as a tight unit.

The night before the game what will they most likely be doing?  Thinking about the game and eating a good meal.

Do they have any pre-game superstitions?  Absolutely none!

Reason for nomination this round:  

Becky is new to women’s AFL footy and has been dominate this season. She has incredible clean skills and look as though she had been playing for years!

“Becky showed great skill and agility in the first-round match against Syd uni. I think she was a little nervous leading in to the match, but it was very clear that her natural ability kicked in as soon as the whistle went. Becky showed great understanding of the game and played a vital role in our win. She was defiantly a stand out!”

Name:  Riley Lucas

Nickname:  Rizz

AFL Sydney Club:  Sydney University

Position:  Wing/Half-Forward 

Junior Club:  Drummoyne Power

Favourite activity to do outside of football:    Basketball and hanging with friends

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club? Well-known for not having much to say

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field?   On-field – does his best to fit into team structures to ensure the team plays the best it can. Off-field – help out around the Club, either in the canteen or running water for the Reserves and Colts

The night before the game what will they most likely be doing?  Watching the Friday-night AFL with a few mates

Do they have any pre-game superstitions?   Put my left boot on before my right

Reason for nomination this round:  Riley has played four games this season, kicking 4 goals and named in the best against the East Coast Eagles. On the weekend, Riley stood tall in a tough defeat, playing his role and once again, putting in a great performance.
