Boy, Oh Boy Wowee of the Week – Round 14

The Pennant Hills Demons ‘Local and Loyal’ round which celebrated all the work their local junior clubs do in the ultimate success of the senior club at Pennant Hills.

The Demons ran a number of initiatives throughout the week leading into the Local and Loyal round. A couple of these initiatives included senior players attending junior training sessions and ‘Jersey Thursday’ which saw all senior players wearing their Junior club jerseys at training.

Before the Premier Division game on the weekend, the Demons put on a combined Auskick game for juniors from all four of their feeder clubs – North Ryde Dockers, Pennant Hills Demons, Westbrook Bulldogs and Horsnby Eagles. All who participated in the Auskick game formed a guard of honour for the seniors as they entered the field with all 22 of the Premier Division players coming from one of those four junior clubs.

The Men’s Premier Division is in it’s first season under the new Player Points System Policy. Under this policy players are allocated a point from one to seven based on their playing history and teams have a cap of up to 50 points to work with. Players who come from a junior pathway club are allocated just one point. Pennant Hills are the only club in the competition who have be able to field a team completely made up of one point local players in all of their games this season. Local and Loyal is the Demons ethos and they pride themselves on the strong relationships they have built with their junior clubs, ones they wish to continue to build upon with more initiatives like this.
