Sydney Swans Academy Squad Announced

The Under 18 Sydney Swans Academy Team has been announced for this Saturday’s inaugural representative match against the Under 22 AFL Sydney Team at Blacktown International Sportspark.

The Academy side will feature 2020 AFL Draft hopefuls Braeden Campbell, Sam Gaden and Errol Gulden.

The squad will also include a number of players who have been training with the Sydney Swans this pre-season as part of the Swans NEAFL Development Squad.

Sydney Swans Academy General Manager, Chris Smith said the fixture presented the local community with a great opportunity to support local talent.

“To have the fixture take place in Blacktown provides the local footballing community with the opportunity to come out in big numbers and get behind the best young talent in the region,” Smith said.

“For the Academy, it’s a great opportunity to build on our preparations for the U18 NAB Series later this year and really test ourselves against the best young talent Sydney has to offer.”

AFL Sydney head-coach Darren Pfeiffer has made two changes to his squad with Johnny Pawle and Zach Cameron replacing Jack Field, Harry Parker and Thomas Tyson. The team will come together for their first training session this week which will be their only chance to gel as a unit ahead of Saturday’s encounter.

There’ll be plenty of talent on display out at Blacktown this Saturday with an intra-club Swans Academy match at 10:30am followed by the main game at 12:30pm. We encourage the football public to make the trip out to Blacktown to watch the games.
