South West Sydney Blues Take to the Field in Season 2022

Official Club Statement – South West Sydney Blues

SWSB OFFICIAL CLUB STATEMENT

It is with great excitement that two proud clubs, Campbelltown Blues AFC & South West Sydney
Magpies AFC, announce a formal merger to become the South West Sydney Blues.

A great outcome following a comprehensive process and to further enhance an already existing three
year joint venture and partnership within our U19s team.

During this time, our clubs have strengthened relationships, trust & share common views on the
difficulties we faced in developing AFL football within the Greater South Western Sydney Region.

The merging of our 2 clubs strengthens the Geographic base which has historically been at a
disadvantage compared to the Inner City, Hills & Northern regions in relation to employment
opportunities & population density. The merger aligns our junior pathways into one central club
allowing for organic growth & a more sustainable avenue to transition players through the junior
system into senior football. We would sincerely like to thank the AFL Sydney team for the support they
have shown whilst we have worked through the process.

We are determined in our immediate goals to work as one & in doing so become a destination club
once again for the regions developing youth & seniors alike. Early success is being achieved with more
than 100 players on training nights spanning across Men’s, Women’s, U19’s & Masters. The club will
have training & playing bases located at Rosedale Oval Warwick Farm and Monarch Oval Macquarie
Fields.

If you have any questions regarding Playing, Coaching or Volunteering please feel free to reach out to
Club Joint Presidents Chris Fretwell & Mark Coles.

We’re looking forward to Season 2022 & beyond.
