Newtown Breakaways Pre-Season Women’s AFLX Challenge back in March 2022- Registrations Open Now!
AFL Sydney is pleased to announce that the Newtown Breakaways Women’s AFLX Pre-season Challenge is back again on the 13th March 2022 and we invite your club to participate.
The venue for 2022 is the Inner West home of AFLW Henson Park.
This is the fourth year the Breakaways have co-ordinated the Women’s Pre-season Challenge and we again encourage your club’s engagement. As COVID-19 restrictions begin to ease, with your support we look forward to celebrating the commencement of the 2022 community AFL season with a great kick off.
The Women’s Pre-season Challenge was developed in response to a need for clubs to secure competitive pre-season trial games, to test and promote players in a game environment that is beyond clubs internal training. Clubs are able to build the capacity of their respective organisations by providing game day training and experience to develop the skills of volunteers and club game day officials.
The Challenge is open to all Women’s AFL Community Clubs whether from the City or Regions. The Challenge is open to Women’s Premier, Divisions 1, 2, 3 & 4. The program uses 2 Pools and we request the highest level teams are registered as Team 1. All Teams registered are guaranteed a minimum of 3 games.
The Newtown Breakaways have designed the event program as a competitive pre-season challenge and to encourage community comradery. While there will be catering available, we encourage teams to bring a marquee, and a picnic, get to know each other and enjoy the day.
Newtown Breakaways Women ‘s Pre-season AFLX Challenge has been made possible with support of the Inner West Council and commercial supporters including O’Neill Sportswear and the Salisbury Hotel.

Cost: $175 (GST does not apply) per team. Note: Early Bird Discount- $150 for Registration before 31st December, 2021
