Cotchin and Ellis locked in for South West Sydney this weekend!

AFL Greats Cotchin & Ellis to Boost South West Sydney Blues in High-Stakes Showdown Against Pennant Hills Demons

AFL fans in Sydney are in for a blockbuster this Saturday, with Richmond premiership stars Trent Cotchin and Brandon Ellis set to line up for the South West Sydney Blues in a crucial Premier Division clash against Pennant Hills at Mike Kenny Oval.

The game, kicking off at 2:30pm carries major finals implications in the AFL Sydney Men’s Premier Division with the two teams separated by only two competition points on the ladder as we enter Round 12 of the AFL Sydney Premier Division competition. The Blues are chasing a historic first-ever finals appearance in the top tier, while Pennant Hills are looking to bounce back into finals contention after a heartbreaking preliminary final loss in 2024. The winner of this match will move into the top 5, and rightly start to dream of Finals footy come September.

Three-time premiership captain and Brownlow Medallist, Trent Cotchin brings unparalleled leadership and composure, while fellow dual premiership player Brandon Ellis adds elite work rate, endurance, and toughness to an already exciting Blues side. Their one-off appearance has generated huge buzz among fans and within the Sydney footy community.

But this is far from a two-man show.

The Blues will also look to the likes of Finbar Delbridge (represented AFL Sydney & Canberra last year vs. Tasmania) who will lead the charge in the ruck for the Blues, Kye Gibbs (VFL listed) and Bailey Stewart to bring speed and run from the backline, while Pennant Hills boasts serious talent of their own, including Michael Carroll who is widely considered the best defender in the league (represented AFL Sydney & Canberra last year vs Tasmania), Mitchell Blow (VFL listed) who is back with the Demons this week following a successful debut with the GIANTS VFL teams last week, Luca Jordaan one of the upcoming superstars in the league who will support Carroll in defence, and Nicholas Eynaud one of the competitions form midfielders with plenty of NEAFL experience, who also led AFL Sydney to a victory vs. AFL Canberra in the rep match earlier this season.

The match will be livestreamed with commentary from the voice of AFL Sydney David Redden via Streamer, but AFL Sydney encouraging fans to come down to the ground, get behind local footy, and soak up what promises to be a high-energy, finals-like atmosphere.
