Round 1 Women’s Rising Star – Paige Pirotta (Auburn-Penrith Giants)

Paige has recently joined our club, having never played football before. Inspired by the AFLW competition, Paige started attending pre-season training sessions following an outstanding U20s Premier League and State Netball career.

Playing in the ruck, Paige dominates the hitouts with both her height and positioning. Her outstanding performance so far demonstrates her incredible natural abilities and experience, which have transitioned well into football. With a broad catching radius and safe hands, Paige is very hard to beat in the marking contest, comfortably taking 10 marks in her debut game.

However, her height isn’t her only advantage, with GPS data proving her elite athleticism, as she clocked over 12km in muddy conditions in our Round One game.

Paige is an outstanding young athlete who has come to football with strong enthusiasm and humility. Along with her sporting experience, she has brought a wonderful attitude to our club, which lifts all of her teammates to work harder.

It will be exciting to observe Paige’s development as the season continues.
