Sydney University announce 2018 Coaching panel
The Growthbuilt Sydney University Australian National Football Club have today announced its 2018 AFL Sydney Coaching Panel.
Premier Division
Following a successful turnaround of the Club’s Premier Division program in 2017, Tony Overall will once again coach the Premier Division team.
Tony will be backed by two assistant coaches in 2018;
Gabe Robbie, a former premiership player with SUANFC, joins the Premier Division’s coaching staff as the forward line coach following a long and successful playing stint with the Club, amassing over 400 goals in 147 games, and
Jon Dyster, previously the President of the Newtown Swans JAFC, Jon will be a handy addition to SUANFC’s coaching panel as defensive line coach, bringing with him a wealth of experience in player development and the AFL Sydney landscape.
Premier Reserves Division
After assisting Tony in 2017, Mike Bassett has moved from his position as Premier Division midfield line coach, to senior coach of the Premier Division Reserves (previously known as Blues).
Mike, a well-respected figure among the Club’s senior playing group, will continue his coaching development as he takes charge of his first senior side within SUANFC.
Colts (U19)
As released earlier this year, the Under 19’s will be lead by Joey Britton. Joey is a AFL level-two accredited coach who has been overseeing and developing the AFL program at Knox Grammar School for the last four years. Joey will also be assisted by Tom Harvey, former Knox Grammar School AFL First Grade Coach.
Other Divisions
Jim Beard will continue his role as the Club’s 4th Grade coach, managing the Club’s Division One Blues side (previously known as Reds), while Greg Nix will also continue as coach of the Division Three Golds side (previously known as Plats).
The Club has opened applications for the role of Division Two Reds Coach. Applications can be sent to afl@sport.usyd.edu.au.
