2020 NAB AFL Women’s and Marsh Community Series Fixtures Announced
Footy fans across New South Wales will have an action-packed start to the 2020 football season, with both the 2020 NAB AFLW Fixture and the 2020 Marsh Community Series Fixture announced this week.
Six games across both competitions will be held in New South Wales in February and March including four AFLW and two Marsh Community Series games.
Highlights include:
- Both the GIANTS and Richmond AFL and AFLW teams will take over Wagga Wagga over the weekend of Saturday the 7th and Sunday the 8th of March 2020. This two-day football extravaganza could see Southern New South Wales talent including Alyce Parker, Harry Himmelberg, Zac Williams and Jodie Hicks returning home as well as a re-match of the 2019 Toyota AFL Grand Final between the GIANTS and the Tigers.
- The first Sydney Derby of 2020 will be played between the Sydney Swans and GIANTS at Blacktown International Sportspark on Saturday 29 February whilst the Swans will head south to Tasmania with their second pre-season hit out taking place in Hobart against North Melbourne.
- The GIANTS AFLW side will kick off their season with two games at Blacktown International Sportspark against competition first timers the Gold Coast Suns and the West Coast Eagles in Rounds 1 and 3 respectively.
- The GIANTS will host the first ever AFL/AFLW double-header during Round 1 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season and Round 7 of the NAB AFL Women’s Competition at Giants Stadium against Geelong.
AFL NSW/ACT CEO Sam Graham said both the NAB AFL Women’s and Marsh Community Series fixtures will allow fans from across New South Wales to see their heroes in action in 2020.
‘The fixtures for both the AFLW and AFL pre-season competitions are really exciting for footy fans right across our region.’ Graham said.
The 2020 NAB AFLW season kicks off on Friday 7 February and the 2020 Marsh Community Series gets underway on Thursday 20 February.
