AFL Sydney to launch new representative fixture in 2020
AFL Sydney has announced it will launch a new representative fixture in 2020 with an Under 22 AFL Sydney team to take on the QBE Sydney Swans Academy Under 18 squad.
The match will take place on the 7th of March at Blacktown International Sportspark, with each AFL Sydney Premier Division club to nominate up to six players born between 1998 and 2002 for selection.
The squad selection panel will be made up of AFL NSW/ACT coaching and talent staff, with former AFL player and AFL Sydney Coaching Co-ordinator, Darren Pfeiffer named head coach.
“Representative football is always a special experience and I’m looking forward to the players coming together and testing themselves against Sydney’s best young talent,” Pfeiffer said.
“The AFL Sydney competition has an abundance of exceptional talent and this game will provide a great opportunity for them to showcase their ability in front of NEAFL and other state league recruitment staff.”
The Under 22 Sydney squad will be announced later next month.
