AFL Sydney Women’s Rising Star – Round Six Nominee

 

This week’s nominee brings something to the table at both ends of the field for the Pennant Hills Demons. Known for her hard hitting tackles and goal kicking abilities, Ella Morris has quickly earned the praise of her coaches and team mates in her first year of Premier Division footy. Ella was a standout in a hard fought contest against the North Shore Bombers in Round 6, scoring a goal and earning best on ground votes for a gutsy performance. It may not have been enough to win the match but it was certainly enough to be named the Women’s Rising Star nominee for Round 6.

Position: Centre/Wing

Junior Club: Pennant Hills Demons JAFC

Favourite activity to do outside of football: 

Ella is known for spending most of her time working at The Brook Eatery in Cherrybrook, and giving free chips to the players who come down and say hi.

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?   

Ella is well known for being the loudest on the team, both at training and during games. She’s always directing people around and can be clearly heard yelling out from all the way across the field.

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field?   

On the field, Ella is an asset to her team, her all rounder abilities reflect her strong defensive capabilities goal kicking ability. It is currently Ella’s first proper season with us, but she has been training with us for the past 3 years on and off to develop her football in her junior footy.

The night before the game what will they most likely be doing?  

In bed by 7:30pm as she needs her “beauty sleep” before a game.

Do they have any pre-game superstitions?   

Listening to her Dua Lipa hype playlist.

Reason for nomination this round: 

Attacking positioning as a wing, and goal scoring ability from anywhere on the field.

Coach quote on Performance:

Ella’s attack on the ball and defensive pressure is absolutely awesome. She is a tackling machine and goes just as hard or harder than any of the girls who have been playing senior footy for the past few years. It’s awesome to see her come through juniors and make an immediate positive impact to our team.
