Player Profile:

Name: Ella Van Den Borne

AFL Sydney Club: Sydney University

Junior Club: Southern Power/Miranda Bombers & MLC School

Position: Forward

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?

Although she’s in the Swans academy Ella a Giants supporter and once joined the Giants players in their team circle to sing the song after a win.

What role do you play for the club(s) both on and off the field?

Ella is a popular member of the squad and is known as working hard at training and being brave on field.

Reason for nomination this round:

Ella has really applied herself this year. She came into the team and has taken her opportunity in Prems putting in some solid performances. Her strength and speed make her a good target ahead of the ball.

In the match against North Shore, despite the team being well beaten Ella pushed hard in her rotations through the Ruck and never stopped trying, remaining competitive until the final siren.

Coach quote on Performance:

Ella came to through the MLC school and has continued to improve ever since she arrived. Ella has worked hard on her skills and improved her versatility, now holding down the position of Forward/Ruck.

Ella played in a few of our practice matches, showing real talent, and has taken this form into the season, holding her spot in the Prems team.

This season we have seen Ella slot well into our forward structure and building a good connection with the group. Her eagerness to learn has resulted in consistent improvement with each game she plays. What is really admirable is that she is always seeking feedback and wanting to improve, working with the coaches at every opportunity.

Overall, Ella doesn’t need much of the ball to impact the game. Our goal for her is to build her consistency and make each of those moments she gets count.

As a coaching group we are incredibly proud of Ella’s work and commitment this season and are excited to see how far she can take her footy!
