Round 13, 2025 – Men’s & Women’s Premier Division Review

WOMEN’S PREMIER DIVISION:
North Shore confirmed their status as one of the favourites to win the Women’s Premier Division with an excellent 52-point victory over East Coast Eagles at Brice Purser Reserve. Final scores were North Shore 9.8.62 to East Coast Eagles 1.4.10.
The Bombers superb defensive performance set up their outstanding win, keeping a very talented Eagles outfit to 1 goal over four quarters, North Shore led by 21 points at halftime and went on with the job in the second half.
Key forward Adrienne Keeffe kicked 4 goals for the Bombers, with Teigan Collister chipping in with two majors.
North Shore’s best players were Lucy Yates, Heidi de Saxe, Keeffe, Amelia Rainbow, Ariel Belger and Collister. East Coast (who welcomed back Abbey Martin after a long absence) was best served by Jess Whelan, Erin Naden, Renee Tomkins, Michelle Foscarini, Grace Tracey and Bryany Parker.
UNSW-ES thrashed a struggling Pennant Hills by 186 points at Mike Kenny Bottom Oval. Final scores were UNSW-ES 29.12.186 to Pennant Hills 0.0.0.
The Bulldogs are battling with UTS for fifth place on the ladder, and this huge win gave them a huge percentage boost.
Emily Conlan and Emma Haley led all goalkickers with 7 and 5 goals, respectively.
UNSW-ES’ best players were Amaia Wain, Haley, Conlan, Hayley Stanford, Lara Brennan and Francesca Ryan. Pennant Hills was best served by Scarlett Sheridan, Bela Nash, Maddison Maconachie-Dykes, Louise Fisher, Ashleigh Grubba and Makayla Nassar.
Manly Warringah kept UTS goalless after quarter-time in running out 44-point victors at Weldon Oval. Final scores were Manly Warringah 9.6.60 to UTS 2.4.16.
After an entertaining 6-goal first quarter, the Wolves kicked 5 goals to 0 in the final 3 quarters as they proved once again that their outstanding backline is set to propel them to the Grand Final.
Lauren Bourgeois kicked 4 goals and Isabella Rudolph 3 goals for the Wolves. Brianna-Lee Wade kicked both of UTS’ goals.
Manly Warringah’s best players were Lauren Bull, Bourgeois, Andrea Roditis, Ashleigh Carter, Kenya Fahey and Chloe Davis. UTS was best served by Tallulah Kirk, Hannah Cerezo, Mairead Comerford, Chaye Hartwell, Aoife Berry and Tilley Edwards-Hill.
A superb second half from skipper Caydelan Mitchell-Bruce led St George to a 14-point victory over Parramatta at Olds Park. Final scores in a low-scoring thriller were St George 3.3.21 to Parramatta 1.1.7.
St George led by 1 point at the final break after scores were level at halftime. Mitchell-Bruce simply dominated the clearances in the final quarter as she willed her young Dragons to a fine victory, adding a last-quarter goal in a match-winning performance from the talented 18-year-old star.
Montana Doubell, Ashleigh Walsh and Mitchell-Bruce kicked the Dragons goals. Khobi Devine kicked the Goannas goal.
St George’s best players were Mitchell Bruce, Delaney Gwynn, Annabelle McHale, Sophie Matheson, Montana Doubell and Bianca Rudzis. Parramatta was best served by Tayliya Noack, Cindy Lam, Kayla McGinty, Imogen Gow, Tiarna Cook and Ashley Gray.
WOMEN’S DIVISION 1:
In Women’s Division One action, Newtown upset competition leaders Sydney University by 2 points in a thriller at Mahoney Park, UTS defeated North Shore by 3 goals at Trumper Oval, Manly Warringah accounted for Camden by 44 points at Mike Pawley Oval and Randwick City defeated South West Sydney by forfeit.
WOMEN’S UNDER 20s:
In Women’s Under 20 action, UNSW-ES belted UTS by 80 points at Trumper Park, Manly Warringah received a forfeit from Parramatta and in a wonderful night game at Gore Hill Oval, North Shore withstood a last quarter fightback to nudge out Sydney University by 4 points.
MEN’S PREMIER DIVISION:
A dominant first quarter from Sydney University set up a comfortable 48-point win over Inner West Magpies at Uni #1 Oval. Final scores were Sydney University 13.12.90 to Inner West Magpies 5.12.42.
The Students jumped out a 29-point lead at quarter time, and despite a rally from the Magpies in the second quarter, University were never seriously threatened as they secured another 4 points ahead of a crucial, difficult 4-week period that will decide if they make the Top 3.
Izaac Hughes, Hugo Blacker and Braydon Pilot all kicked 3 goals for Sydney Uni. Jaden Gilheany kicked 3 goals for the Magpies.
Sydney Uni’s best players were Alex Witherden, Rory Barkley, Mamadou Faye, Jay Tang, Max Kozlik and Hughes. Inner West was best served by Jonathon Bowyer, Gilheany, Jye Doyle, Michael Tuttle, Nicholas McCormack and Keegan Litchfield.
Much like Sydney Uni, a dominant first quarter from North Shore set up a 55-point win over East Coast Eagles at Bruce Purser Reserve. Final scores were North Shore 15.9.99 to East Coast Eagles 6.8.44.
The Bombers flew out of the blocks, leading by 29 points at quarter time then by 58 points at half time. It was 5 goals apiece in the second half as East Coast battled hard, but the damage had already been done and the Bombers cruised to another victory.
Max Thomas kicked 4 goals for North Shore, with Charlie Stephens chipping in with 3 majors. Marshall Poynter kicked 2 goals for the Eagles.
North Shore’s best players were not available at the time of writing. East Coast was best served by Jacob Jones, Reeve Simmons, Baylee Jones, Jesse Eldred, Angus Edwards and Cameron Edwards.
A red-hot South West Sydney Blues had a huge day out at Olds Park, thrashing St George by 73 points. Final scores were South West Sydney 18.16.124 to St George 8.3.51.
The Blues led by 61 points at the main break, courtesy of an electrifying 7 goal second quarter, in which small forward Bailey-Dean Latanis kicked an amazing 5 goals. St George dug deep in the second half, managing 4 goals to the Blues 5, but the Blues are close to securing a finals berth after this well-constructed victory.
Latanis kicked 5 goals for the Blues, with Heath Mercer and William Lockett chipping with 3 goals each. Jed Robin and Kirian Ayres kicked 2 goals each for the Dragons.
South West Sydney’s best players were Latanis, Mercer, Matthew Storey, Lockett, Ethan Roberts and Khy Gibbs. St George was best served by Ayres, Liam Taylor, Cave McKnight (surely one of the most improved players in Premier Division), Matt Saunders, Jack Logan and Lachlan Querzoli.
UNSW-ES consolidated third place on the ladder with a 90-point demolition of Pennant Hills at Mike Kenny Oval. Final scores were UNSW-ES 20.9.129 to Pennant Hills 5.9.39.
The Bulldogs collected valuable percentage as they piled on the misery for the Demons in a clinical 4-quarter performance.
Skipper Will Spencer led all goalkickers with 4 majors, aided and abetted by Jake Brown, William Foster and Billy Longmire, all of whom managed 3 goals on a day where the Bulldogs kicked 20 goals from 29 effective shots on goal. Nick Hey kicked 3 goals for the Demons as they fell 10 points behind South West Sydney on the Premier Division ladder.
UNSW-ES’ best players were Oscar Peter, Jordan Endemann, Longmire, Spencer, Toby Alker and Fred Tricks. Pennant Hills was best served by Cameron Mitchell, Nicholas Eynaud, Kieron Coaldrake, Zac Elliott, Lachlan Willey and Liam Everett.
Undefeated competition leaders Manly Warringah were made to work hard by UTS before closing out the Bats in the second half to win by 37 points at Weldon Oval. Final scores were Manly Warringah 12.15.87 to UTS 7.8.50.
The Wolves led by 4 points at the main break but kicked 7 goals to 2 in the second half, despite a brave effort from UTS.
Cam Manuel kicked 4 goals for the Wolves, with the usual suspects Zac Youlten, Phelan Medal favourite Travis Schiller and Jesse Wadeisha all chipping in with two majors each. Thomas Charles kicked 4 goals for the Bats as he continued his recent good form in front of goals.
Manly Warringah’s best players were Manuel, Joe Harrison, Lachlan Price, Ky Mcgrath and Kale Gabila. UTS was best served by Henry Gosse, Hamish Latchford, Justin Ryan, Charles, Tom Gordon and Louis Pribula.
MEN’S DIVISION ONE:
In Men’s Division One action, Parramatta thrashed St George by 90 points at Olds Park, UNSW-ES thrashed Pennant Hills by 77 points at Mike Kenny Oval, Sydney University annihilated Inner West Magpies by 152 points at Uni #1 Oval and North Shore thrashed Souther Power by 78 points at Waratah Oval.
