Meet our Round Sixteen Women’s Rising Star Nominee, Kendra Blattman, Sydney University

Player Profile:

Name: Kendra Blattman

AFL Sydney Club: Sydney University

Junior Club: Southern Power

Position: Utility

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?

Kendra is a popular player around the club, easily identifiable with her headgear on game day.

What role do they play for the club(s) both on and off the field?

Kendra is a great example of a player that you want in your program. Clearly talented, she is humble and loves spending time with teammates. She plays whatever role is asked of her on field and off field she takes every opportunity she can to get down to training or be there on game day supporting, even with her other commitments with Academy and the Swans.

Reason for nomination this round:

Kendra is a player with great skills and footy smarts. Her kicking skills and clean hands make her a handy player wherever she plays.

In the match against Pennant Hills, Kendra was best on ground. She was strong across the halfback line taking a number of intercept marks giving us great momentum to set up our rebound, before she switched forward and spent some time in the Ruck, ending up with 2 goals. She’s only played eight games for us this season with her other commitments but has been in the best 6 times already!

Coach quote on Performance:

Kenny is in her second season of our program and moves seamlessly between playing in our Prems and playing with the Academy. She is another of our USYD students, making her mark in the Elite Athlete Program whilst studying Sports Education.

As a coach, you really couldn’t ask for a better player. Kenny listens and applies herself, consistently performing at her best in whatever position she plays. Her teamwork and contribution to team culture are outstanding.

Selfishly we’d love to have Kendra playing for us every week but understand that she has the potential to play at a higher level and we’re really supportive of this.

As a coaching group we are incredibly proud of Kenny’s talent and commitment and are excited to see how far she can take her footy!” – Women’s Premier Division Coach, Jon Dyster
