Meet our Round Ten Men’s Rising Star Nominee, Tom Charles, UTS Bats

Player Profile:

Name: Tom Charles

Nickname: TC

Junior Club: Canada Bay Cannons JAFC

AFL Sydney Club: UTS Bats AFC

Position: Full Forward

What is one thing we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?

TC has the same meal before a game, purchased from a local cafe. A banana smoothie and bacon & egg roll.

Many at the club comment on the sound the footy makes when striking TC’s boot.

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field?

TC instils confidence and a positive attitude both on and off the field. He communicates well, has the respect of his teammates and is a future club leader.

Reason for nomination this round:

Tom, who is still 17 years old, lead the Men’s Premier Division forward line with three goals against quality opposition in UTS’ win over Sydney University. This was the 2nd time that Tom has kicked three goals or more in his four games in Premier Division. The other occasion being against competition leaders, Manly Warringah.

Coach quote on Performance:

“Tom is one of our key future prospects coming from the U19.5’s. Since joining the UTS Men Prem’s program, Tom has steadily built into a fantastic young prospect for our Club, and something we can build our program around, not only this year, but in future years to come. I’m really excited about the footballer Tom will become. The world is very much his for the taking.” – Dean Cleary – Men’s Premier Division Head Coach, UTS Bats
