Boy, Oh Boy Wowee of the Week – Round Two

In another week of competitive ‘AFL Sydney Boy, Oh Boy Wowee of the Week’ nominations, we’ve got three speccys – all miraculously caught on camera (!) – which judges could not separate. So once again, it’s up to the AFL Sydney community to vote in the winner of the weekly $100 prize, as well as the chance at the final yearly prize of $500 to the nominator and $500 to their associated AFL Sydney club.

Vote on the AFL Sydney Facebook page via the BOBWOW post – just comment which one you think should win (from 7.30pm on Wedneday, April 17). Voting closes at 3pm on Thirsday, April 18, 2019

ROUND TWO NOMINATIONS

CHOICE ONE:

Up there Amber Laven, indeed. Sydney University’s Laven took this hanger on Lauren Foy of the Newtown Breakaways on Saturday. Not only did Laven land the mark, but the fall was so high she limped off with an ankle injury following the grab. Lucky Beth Watts took the photo to prove it was well worth the injury.

Nominated by Beth Watts, Newtown Breakaways.

CHOICE TWO:

Everything is going ‘Up! Up!’ for the North Shore Bombers so far this year. Their margins, their place on the ladder and now their players. Manly’s man on the ground (with a camera), Paul Carter captured this flyer at Gore Hill Oval from Bomber, Andrew McConnell on Saturday. Certainly no need to worry about the landing on the new North Shore deck, hey Andrew?

Nominated by Paul Carter, Manly Wolves.

CHOICE THREE:

Lastly, this nomination from the Southern Power had everyone talking at Waratah Oval on Saturday morning. The Power’s Conor Aggett channeled his inner Isaac Heeney and took this screamer in the home side’s big win over the Western Magic. Is it the best speccy of Round 2? It’s up to you…

Nominated by Matt Last, Southern Power.

HONOURABLE MENTIONS

While not on the scale of the three speccys above, we did receive a nomination worth mentioning, because, well, it deserves it.

Received ‘anonymously’, a member of St George AFC has nominated Blake Guthrie who – in the nominators own words – “elected to put his shirt on after the game on the weekend, then took it off for 2 hours on the hill because ‘this rig is too good not to show off'”. There were no photos submitted with this nomination, but we can only assume it looked very much like this.

THE COMPETITION

We are calling for weekly nominations from individuals to honour the silly, spectacular and special moments at your club.

All AFL Sydney divisions from Men’s and Women’s teams are invited to nominate clutch marks, terrible haircuts, funny moments, after the siren victories, best fans, social media moments, or anything notable that has happened at your club during the week.

Every nomination must come with either a photo or video for the judges to be able to determine a winner.

Please send all nominations to alex.smith@afl.com.au by COB on Monday nights.

This competition will run during the main rounds of the AFL Sydney season and does not include the AFL Sydney Finals Series.

PRIZES

Weekly winner: The weekly winner (the individual who nominated the winning nomination) will take home 1 x $100 VISA gift card.

Overall winner: The overall winner (the individual who nominated the overall winning nomination for the year), will win a 1 x $500 VISA gift card, as well as another 1 x $500 VISA gift card for their associated AFL Sydney club.
