Boy, Oh Boy Wowee of the Week – Round 15
ROUND 15 WINNER
Eilish Sheerin’s dazzling run from the centre circle to the goal square finished off by kicking a goal mid tackle.
The canteen at Waratah Oval must have run out of lolly bags before the game as Eilish sold the candy to the Southern Power players with ease. Dodging and faking her way past five defenders and bouncing the ball three times, Sheerin made Newtown’s only goal for the game the one to remember. While the Swans’ Jordan Dawson danced around three Geelong defenders on the weekend it was Eilish’s dance that was the talk of AFL Sydney.
Nomination: Tiff Chen, Newtown Breakaways
HONOURABLE MENTIONS
The Pies work their magic for first time since 2018
The South West Sydney Magpies’ Platinum Division team picked up their first win since Round Two of the 2018 season. The Magpies knocked off third place Western Magic in dominant fashion 15.8 (98) to 8.6 (54) and demonstrated that they have what it takes to mingle with the heavy hitters in the Platinum Division. The players sung the song loud and proud in front of their home crowd who hope to hear it again when they take on top of the table Penrith Rams at Rosedale Park in Round 17.

North Shore farewells club stalwart at Back 2 Bears Day
The North Shore Bombers held their Back 2 Bears Day at Gore Hill on the weekend which saw the club celebrate it’s century long legacy. There was a Presidents Lunch which recognised the 1978 and 1979 premiership sides as well as new life members. A long distance and goal kicking competition was held at half time of the main game. They had a corporate box set-up on the hill and a massive after party in the club rooms that concluded the big day.
Many past Bomber greats were in attendance, reminiscing about past glories and and reliving crushing defeats. They watched on as the current North Shore Premier Division side defeated old rivals Pennant Hills in a high stakes affair. This game would be Danny Roberts’ last for the Bombers and a fitting occasion to call it a day. The reliable forward added three more goals to his career total before hanging up the boots and joining the North Shore greats in attendance.
