AFL Sydney Women’s Rising Star – Round Two Nominee

Georgina Fowler showed no signs of being hampered by a pre-season back injury as she asserted her dominance in the front line to kick three goals against the reigning Premiers. Our Round Two nominee shone bright in a game that has led to her East Coast Eagles side being touted as the team to beat in the Women’s Premier Division competition.

With a cautious start to the season, we’re looking forward to watching this Rising Star nominee soar to new heights as the season progresses.

Spending time in the gym, time with friends and playing rugby.

What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?

Georgie is well known for being early to most training sessions.  Partly due to available lifts to training and partly due to the fact she loves working on her game and goal kicking in particular.

What role do they play for the club both on and off the field?

A quiet behind the scenes EAGAL. She is a rarely heard from around the club but is a much loved member of the EAGALS.  A strong body on the field who loves to take the game on.

The night before the game what will they most likely be doing?

Watching Friday night footy with the family munching down some extra carbs for game day.

Do they have any pre-game superstitions?

Always tapes her right ankle before her left and put right boot on before left.  Must smash a Narnie (Banana) post warm up before running out for the game.

Nomination Details

Reason for nomination this round:

Backing up a super debut season in 2020 as an U17 Georgie is ready to take her game to another level in 2021 after over coming a tough off season recovering from stress fractures in the back and missing the whole academy series with the Swans Academy.

Coach quote on Performance:

“Georgie was back to her best against the reigning premiers after being managed through half a game in round 1 off the back of a very limited pre-season due to her back injury.  Georgie’s strength and power off the mark allowed her take advantage of a strong team performance and kick 3 goals.  Only three weeks back into training and games post injury she will be a scary prospect when fully fit.” Ash Moeller, Head Coach
