Why did you start playing footy?
The old man is from Adelaide and loves the game, so he got my brothers and I to join the local club at a young age
What is your most memorable AFL Sydney moment?
Watching the Prems win the flag in 2017
What is the best part about playing at your current club?
Penno’s culture is all time and I get to run out each week with all my best mates. The people at Penno are what make it such an enjoyable club to be a part of.
Do you have any pre-game superstitions or routines?
I’ve got a game day pair of undies that I wear and need an iced cold brew coffee before we run out
What is the best advice you have received as a player and from who?
“Kick straight”-everyone at the club

The interpretation of the holding the ball rule and you know why
What are you missing most about footy during lockdown?
Not being able to train, play and see everyone from the club

What is this player know for at your club?
Ben is a Penno local, having come through the Westbrook Junior Club. Ben is not only an emerging talent on the field but a leader off the field. After his breakout game against East Coast in Round 8, we are excited to see Ben develop over the coming seasons. Off-field, Ben has excellent values and is someone who is not only at every social function but also stays behind at the end of the night to clean up.

Ben shares a house with fellow teammates Connor Mathews (brother), Wilson Mudge and Ollie Nockles  – the stories from that house……….ha
How can people get involved with playing at your club?
With 11 teams (5 Men’s, 4 Women’s, 1 team in the U19’s and a team in the Master’s division), Pennant Hills Demons are focused on ensuring we provide a welcoming club for players of all standards. The club motto is ‘Every Heart Beats True’ and at Penno those who have experienced our club culture certainly know that to be a valid motto.
