St George Australian Football Club Seeking Women’s Head Coach for Season 2023
After three strong seasons of growth, the St George Australian Football Club is preparing to take its Women’s program to the next level, with an aspiration to enter AFL Sydney Women’s Premier Division in the near future.
To this end, we are seeking a suitably qualified and motivated coach capable of developing our Women’s Division One team over season 2023, into premiership contenders and onwards to the Women’s Premier Division. As Head Coach of the Women’s program, you will also work with the Women’s Division Three and Four coaches to develop the broader playing group.
Based at Olds Park, Peakhurst on the south side of Sydney, about 30 minutes from the CBD, St George AFC enjoys one of the best playing surfaces in Sydney, excellent lighting, and gym and physio facilities. Further, planning is underway for expansion of the clubhouse to cater for our growing player numbers.
Guided by a strong and committed off-field team of officials and volunteers we pride ourselves on strong cultural and social values. We are “One Club” across the Men’s and Women’s programs, for all grades and teams. This is a driving principle for our existence and future success, with both programs unified in a desire to both enjoy football and be highly competitive.
Celebrating our centenary in 2028, we a seeking a Head Coach to elevate our Women’s football program to the next level and continue the tradition of developing our local junior talent into successful senior footballers and leaders in the community.
St George’s next Senior Women’s Coach will have the following attributes;
• An AFL Level 2 Coaching qualification, or be able to undertake the Level 2 course.
• A current Working with Children accreditation.
• A genuine appreciation and enthusiasm for grass roots AFL at a community level.
• Will be highly motivated to advance the position and standard of women’s football in Sydney.
• Contemporaneous experience coaching at Women’s Premier Division level or equivalent.
• Will embody the values and culture of our club, where female players can develop and enhance their AFL skills in a professional, friendly and respectful sporting environment.
• Will be a great communicator who can build and grow strong relationships with players and club officials.
Responsibilities
• Model club values and expected behaviours to the playing group.
• Develop the quality and depth of the Division One team and Women’s playing group more generally.
• Plan and run two training sessions per week throughout the pre-season and season.
• Coach the Division One team on game days and at pre-season matches.
• Provide leadership to the Division Three and Division Four coaches and liaise with Men’s coaches as required.
• Work with the Committee and volunteers to achieve St George AFC’s vision and values.
• Attend committee meetings, Sydney AFL meetings and club functions as required.
