Meet our Round Ten Women’s Rising Star Nominee, Aysha Sanchez, East Coast Eagles
Player Profile:
Name: Aysha Sanchez
Nickname: Aysh
AFL Sydney Club: East Coast Eagles
Junior Club: Bombaderry Tigers
Position: Half Forward/Wing
What is one thing that we don’t know about this Rising Star that they are well known for around the club?
Aysha travels from Bomaderry to train once a week and play with us on Saturdays. She is always seeking feedback on her game at every opportunity.
What role do you play for the club(s) both on and off the field?
Aysha is another one of our young crop who has added some much needed speed and forward pressure to our forward line.
Reason for nomination this round:
Aysha has been super consistent and has performed strongly in all of her matches in the Premier Division. Still just 16 years of age she has demonstrated her ability to compete and stand out at the level.
Coach quote on Performance:
“Aysha played a variety of roles for us against a strong Parramatta team. Starting on the wing, she was able to connect us really well through the middle of the ground. A move to Half Forward in the second half saw her really shine in the wet and slippery conditions. Her clean ground ball gets and hunger to pressure and tackle the opposition was a big reason we were able to control the game and play it in our half. She was super busy all day and always involved in the contest.” – East Coast Eagles Women’s Premier Division Coach, Ash Moeller
