Round 11, 2025 – Men’s & Women’s Premier Division Review

WOMEN’S PREMIER DIVISION:
Parramatta won their first game of season 2025 with a comfortable 53-point victory over hosts Pennant Hills at Mike Kenny Bottom Oval. Final scores were Parramatta 9.8.62 to Pennant Hills 1.3.9.
Spearheaded by a superb display from athletic ruck Marley Rhodes, the Goannas won every quarter in an entertaining game. The young Demons outfit tackled their hearts out, but terrific displays from Khobi Devine, Brea Trevitt and the lightning Michala Ford proved too much for Pennant Hills, despite a magnificent performance from key Demons defender Sheridan Baker.
Ford kicked three goals in the last quarter for Parramatta, with Devine & Trevitt chipping in with two majors each. Sally Faehrmann kicked the Demons only goal.
Parramatta’s best players were Rhodes, Devine, Trevitt, Ashley Gray, Ava Saad and Ford. Apart from the outstanding Baker, Pennant Hills were best served by Stephanie Este, the superb Baker, Ashleigh Grubba, Faehrmann, Bela Nash and Amelia Bennett.
UTS may have secured themselves finals footy with a convincing 46-point victory over sixth placed UNSW-ES at Henson Park. Final scores were UTS 8.7.55 to UNSW-ES 1.3.9.
The Bulldogs led by 6 points at quarter time, but UTS’ miserly defence kept the Dogs to 2 behinds after the first break, whilst the Bats piled on 8 goals in the final 3 quarters.
Key forwards Brianna-Lee Wade and Sophia Gaukrodger both kicked three goals for UTS.
UTS was best served by Charlotte Owen, Gaukrodger, Tallulah Kirk, Kaitlin McCaffery, Wade and Aleshea Houlahan. UNSW-ES’ best players were Georgia Voura, young gun – Emma Haley, Koh, Brennan, Rd. 10 Rising Star, Amaia Wain and Ahlani Eddy.
Manly Warringah has somehow won 2 games of football in 7 days despite 5 goals 20 behinds across 8 quarters. The Wolves came from behind at half-time to defeat Sydney University 3.10.28 to 3.3.21 at Uni #1 Oval.
Manly’s defence, again led superbly by skipper Ashleigh Carter, kept Uni to 1 goal in the second half as they ground out a tough win. The Wolves will need to find more avenues to goal as they move closer to the Finals, but they will be happy in defeating a talented and resolute Uni outfit at Uni #1 Oval, always a hard place to win.
Key forward Isabella Rudolph kicked 2 goals for the Wolves, whilst Uni had 3 individual goal kickers.
Manly Warringah’s best players were Jessica Manning, Hannah Woolf, Kenya Fahey, Ashleigh Carter, Jessica Layton and Andrea Roditis. Sydney Uni was best served by Emma Walsh, Evie Bowie, Amanda Farrugia, Cassie Brown, Molly Cameron and Peri Maniakas.
North Shore had a massive day out at Gore Hill Oval, thrashing St George by 138 points. Final scores were North Shore 21.13.139 to St George 0.1.1.
The Bombers simply overwhelmed the Dragons, leading by 67 points at the main break and kicking 11 goals in the second half to further boost their already extraordinary percentage (which is now 757.14). The Bombers upcoming fixture with Manly Warringah could well decide the Minor Premiership.
Adrienne Keeffe kicked 5 goals for North Shore, with Cassidy McArthur managing 4 goals in an excellent display.
North Shore’s best players were Charlotte Tidemann, Keeffe, Grace Hill, Matilda Eder, Emily Bliss and McArthur. St George was best served by Montana Doubell, Annabelle McHale, Delaney Gwynn, Zoe Maher, Bianca Rudzis and Maggie Ritchie.
WOMEN’S DIVISION 1:
In Women’s Division One action, UTS won by forfeit over South West Sydney, Sydney Uni nudged out Manly Warringah by a solitary point at Uni #1 Oval, Randwick City thrashed Camden by 71 points at Pioneers Park and North Shore walloped Newtown by 86 points at Gore Hill.
WOMEN’S UNDER 20s:
In Women’s Under 20 action, Manly Warringah defeated Sydney Uni by 7 goals at Uni #1 Oval, and North Shore demolished UTS by 93 points at Trumper Oval. UNSW-ES won by forfeit over Parramatta.
MEN’S PREMIER DIVISION:
East Coast Eagles defeated an inaccurate Inner West Magpies by 14 points at Picken Oval. Final scores were East Coast 9.9.63 to Inner West 6.13.49.
After an entertaining first quarter in which the Eagles kicked 5 goals to Magpies 3, both teams defended grimly in the final three quarters. The Magpies were only 8 points down at three-quarter time, but the Eagles kicked 2 goals to 1 in the final stanza to record a tough victory.
Marshall Poynter kicked 5 goals for East Coast in a match-winning display up forward. Key forward Ben Zoppo kicked 3 goals for the Magpies.
East Coast’s best players were Poynter, Baylee Jones, Reeve Simmons, Connor Ballingall, Cameron Edwards and Jacob Jones. Inner West was best served by Jonty Inglis, Ryder Eberhard, Kyle Veerhuis, Lucas Lam, Benjamin Klemke and Patrick Wilmot.
North Shore, after a huge scare last week at Rosedale Oval, got back to business with 57-point victory over St George at Gore Hill Oval. Final scores were North Shore 15.14.104 to St George 7.5.47.
The Bombers led by 5 goals at the main break and then kicked 7 goals to 3 in the second half as they kept pace with undefeated Manly Warringah.
Tom Gillis kicked 7 goals for the Bombers, with Aidan McCartney and Jackson Nelson chipping in with 2 majors each. Full-forward Jed Robin kicked 4 goals for St George, again showing why he is such an important recruit for the Dragons.
North Shore’s best players were Thomas Drum, Jake Veale, Gillis, Ethan Grace, Nelson and McCartney. St George was best served by Callum Nash, Thomas ingram, Lachlan Querzoli, Jeremy Woods, Alexander Box and Dominic Michalak.
UNSW-ES withstood a withering opening burst of 4 goals in 5 minutes from UTS to run out 33-point victors; in doing so seriously denting any hope the Bats had of sneaking into finals action. Final scores at Henson Park were UNSW-ES 15.14.104 to UTS 11.5.71.
The Bats led by 10 points at quarter-time, but the Bulldogs kicked 13 goals to 7 after the first break to register an important victory as they jumped arch rivals Sydney Uni into third place on the Premier Division ladder.
The Dynamic Duo of veteran Kieran Emery (4) and Hugo Birks (3) kicked 7 goals up forward for the Bulldogs. Thomas Charles kicked 3 goals for the Bats, with Justin Ryan and Josh Ralph chipping in with 2 majors each for UTS.
UNSW-ES’ best players were Toby Alker, the evergreen Emery, Samuel Gaden, Oscar Peter, Cooper Kilpatrick and Sam Thorne. UTS was best served by Lewis McCormack, Blake Tabe, Henry Gosse, Ryan, Ryley Walker and Jack Calabro.
South West Sydney rocketed back into the Top Five with an outstanding 68-point victory over Pennant Hills at Mike Kenny Oval. The Blues ran out winners 21.7.133 to 10.5.65 in a high-scoring game, with guest Blues players, Brownlow Medallist and Richmond Premiership skipper Trent Cotchin and Tiger/Sun Brandon Ellis thrilling the healthy crowd on hand at Cherrybrook.
After an insane first quarter that lasted 33 minutes and featured 12 goals, the Blues, after leading by 17 points at half-time, shut the door on the Demons in the pivotal third quarter, kicking 7 goals whilst keeping the Demons scoreless. The two sides again entertained the crowd with combined 7 goals in the final stanza.
In the absence of Nic Dunshea, Eddie Keogh kicked 5 goals for the Blues. Bailey Stewart kicked 3 goals for the Blues as part of a great all-round display from the talented midfielder. Nick Hey kicked 4 goals for Pennant Hills, with skipper Mitchell Blow chipping in with 2 majors for the Demons.
The Blues best players were Keogh, Ethan Roberts, Stewart, Blake Jarvis, Angus Langley and Ellis. Pennant Hills were best served by Nicholas Eynaud, Oliver Williams, Blow, Hey, Aidan Russell and Cameron Este.
In the late game at Uni #1 Oval, Manly Warringah overcame a sluggish start to run out 44-point victors over Sydney University. Final scores were Manly Warringah 16.19.115 to Sydney University 11.5.71.
University led by 11 points at quarter-time, but the Wolves, no doubt stung into action, piled on 6 goals to 2 in the second quarter to lead by 8 points at the main break. Manly and Uni combined for 15 goals in an exciting second half, but, once again, Manly ran away with the game in the fourth quarter.
Phelan Medal favourite Travis Schiller kicked 4 goals for the Wolves. Cam Manuel, Zach Youlten and Jesse Wadeisha all chipped in with 2 majors for Manly. Luke Haddad and Nik Dale kicked 3 goals each for the Students.
Manly Warringah’s best players were Schiller, Joe Harrison, Nicholas Marsh, Jonathan Marsh, Taine Wright and Billy McGee-Galimberti. Sydney Uni was best served by Nicholas Andreacchio, Nathan Tang, Russell Royal, Ricky Meyrick, Mamadou Faye and Kobe Banks.
MEN’S DIVISION ONE:
In Men’s Division One action, Southern Power defeated Inner West Magpies by 66 points at Picken Oval, Camden ran riot in thrashing UNSW-ES by 87 points at Henson Park, a very confident Parramatta belted Pennant Hills by 74 points at Mike Kenny Oval, and North Shore comfortably accounted for St George by 99 points at Gore Hill Oval.
