Newtown Breakaways Pre-Season Women’s AFLX Challenge Carnival returns in 2020

 

Following the tremendous success of the inaugural Newtown Breakaways Pre-season Challenge Carnival the Breakaways are pleased to announce the event is on again for March 2020 and they invite your participation.

The 2020 event has been elevated with the support of the Inner-West Council and is to be presented at Henson Park.  The event falls within the AFLW season and the Carnival date (Sun 15 March) coincides with a weekend without AFLW in Sydney.  The Breakaways encourage your club’s engagement to present the highest level of Women’s Community AFL available.  With your support we can attract a crowd to celebrate with us.

The Women’s Pre-season Challenge was developed in response to a need for clubs to secure competitive pre-season trial games, to test and promote players in a game environment that is beyond clubs internal training.  Clubs are able to build the capacity of their respective organisations by providing game day training and experience to develop the skills of volunteers and club game day officials.

The Newtown Breakaways have designed the Challenge event program as a Carnival & Clubs Picnic to encourage community and comradery while still engaging in competitive football.  While there will be catering available, we encourage teams to bring a marquee, and a picnic, get to know each other and enjoy the day.

The Challenge is open to all divisions of Women’s AFL Community Clubs – Premier, Divisions 1, 2 and 3.
