XBlades AFL Sydney Round 6 Men’s Rising Star – Dominic Michalak (St George Dragons)

AFL Sydney would like to congratulate St George Dragons player Dominic Michalak who has been adjudicated as the Men’s Rising Star for Round 6.

 

Dom first came to our notice in 2014 when he turned up as a skinny kid to our first year of the St George Academy. His junior coach at the time said he “had the best hands in the junior competition”, and it has proven to be the case. Dom spent 2 years in St George U19s with the occasional game in the senior Div 1 team. After starting in Div 1 this year Dom soon got his chance in Premier Division playing mostly in the half back line. In his 3 games this season Dom has shown himself to be a composed and confident rebounding defender, whilst showing his work rate to push forward to score 2 goals in his 3 games so far. He still has very safe hands and a penetrating left foot kick, but since those early days in the St George Academy he has added hardness and a great burst of speed that has turned him in to an integral part of the Dragons back 6.
