Southern Dingoes launch new pre-season Masters Carnival
Is your club struggling to secure some pre-season matches for your Masters players prior to the 2023 season or have plans to form a Masters team in the near future?
AFL Sydney is excited to announce a new pre-season carnival offering for players aged 35 and over. The Southern Dingoes AFC will be hosting the inaugural Dingoes 12 – a – side Masters Derby on Sunday, 19th March 2023 at Waratah Oval, Sutherland.
All AFL Sydney and NSW Masters affiliated clubs, from Sydney and the regions, are encouraged to enter a team in the Dingoes Derby. This is a great opportunity for clubs to bring their over 35 year old players together for a run around before the season and find out what Masters footy is all about.
The matches will be run on smaller rectangular fields, in a modified format that promotes limited contact. All teams will be guaranteed a minimum of 3 games across the day plus entry into the Longest Kick competition with plenty of prizes up for grabs.
Not only will players be getting some practice on the field but it will be an opportunity for Team Managers and other club volunteers to gain some game day experience prior to the season.
The event is a competitive yet relaxed pre-season carnival and a great opportunity to build team chemistry and camaraderie within the Masters community. Catering will be available on the day but teams are encouraged to bring their own picnic, a marque and chairs, get to know each other and enjoy the day.
The Dingoes 12 – a – side Masters Derby has been made possible with support of Major Sponsor East Coast Rigging and organisational supporters Sydney AFL and New South Wales Masters.

- Eligibility: Men over or turning 35 in 2023. Teams will be locked in on a first paid basis
- Cost: $150 (GST does not apply) per team
- Games: Shortened AFL modified games on a rectangular field. Pooled format fixture. Minimum three (3) games per team.
- Prizes: $2,000 in cash prizes for top 3 teams and Longest Kick winners. $500 Sherrin Voucher.
