Head of Women’s Football 2020
Due to their newly appointed Head Coach’s sudden departure due to personal circumstances the Newtown Breakaways are again seeking a qualified, skilled and experienced person to head Women’s Football in 2020 and potentially beyond. The Head of Women’s Football will utilise the club’s values; Competitive, Committed and Inclusive to lead the Breakaways on a pathway to the highest level in the Women’s AFL Sydney divisional competition.
In 2020 the Breakaways are fielding two women’s teams in Division 1 and Division 3. The Newtown Breakaways seek a capable and inspiring head that will support the Clubs inclusive culture.
Item 1: Services
The Head of Woman’s Football will:
– Lead, oversee and co-ordinate coaching for Women for all divisions throughout the Season (mid- January to late-September);
– Work effectively with the NBFC Coaches Committee and NBFC Executive to ensure a cohesive approach to the Club’s on-field performance in all divisions and individual performance, including:
> provide regular reports as required and initiatives throughout the Season
> instructing the players under your care and to see that all players carry out significant training;
> assist to identify division team coaches to establish a consistent coaching policy throughout the Club; and
> work in collaboration with the NBFC – Men’s Team and Coach/s encouraging the Club Values “Inclusive, Competitive, Committed”.
> assist with junior development outside the Club as agreed where possible and appropriate.
– Establish a NBFC Players Development Group to identify and support Individual Player Programs and achieve their highest level of achievement;
> Communicate effectively with players and assisting to prepare individual playing programs.
– Develop and establish an appropriate pre-season training program;
– Develop a regular training program and conduct training with all divisions, engaging with players and divisional coaches/captains/team leaders;
– Provide team leadership and act as the Chair of the Match Selection Committee;
– Provide game day coaching expertise to the Division One Team and support Coaching Team for other divisions where possible;
– Assist and recommend to the Football Committee and Executive opportunities and strategies for:
> recruitment of players and
> appropriate football support team / volunteers;
– Support and adhere to AFL NSW /ACT Policies and Rules at all times;
– Apply the Code of Conduct for coaching staff and players that supports the objectives of the Club on and off the field;
– Attend Club functions as agreed to;
Item 2: Performance Guidelines
As coach of the Head of Women’s Football the Club’s expectations are that you will:
– Provide the Services to the Club for the length of the Season;
– Attend weekly skills development training (Tuesdays: 18:30 – 20:30 at Mahoney Oval, Marrickville);
– Attend weekly team training (Thursday: 18:30 – 20:30 at Mahoney Oval, Marrickville);
– Attend all Women’s Division 1 matches (Saturdays or Sundays – locations as scheduled); and
– Maintain all relevant relationships within and on behalf of the Club, including but not limited to by:
> Reporting to the Club President and Club Executive;
> Participating in the NBFC Football Committee
> Liaising with the NBFC Committee Players’ Task Group; and
> Liaising with Assistant/Co-Coaches, Managers, Players, Umpires, and Ground Managers;
> Liaising with AFL NSW/ACT and AFL Sydney as required
Item 3: Qualifications and Memberships
– Desired Level 2 Coaching Accreditation
– Valid Working with Children Check
– AFL Footy-Web Membership
– First Aid Certificate (desirable)
Item 4: Honorarium
The Newtown Breakaways Football Club Inc is a not for profit organisation and is not an employer and therefore the Head Coach will not receive any remuneration for provision of the Services. However, an appropriate honorarium payment will be made by the Club to assist with travel, equipment and other out-of-pocket expenses in accordance. GST is not applicable to a voluntary services agreement.
